neRID Vice-President Nominee

Julie Delkamiller, Ed.D., C.I., C.T.,

 

Is currently an associate professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha training individuals to be teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing and/or sign language interpreters. She holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, a master’s degree in Learning Disabilities and a bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education/Social Sciences.  Julie previously taught secondary students at the Iowa School for the Deaf and has interpreted in academic, community, religious, video relay, and theatre settings.

neRID Vice-President Nominee

Jamy Elker

Certified Sign Language Interpreter

NIC Master | CI & CT

 

Jamy has been a professional sign language interpreter for 37 years. She began her education at IWCC between 1986 and 1988, but then later completed and graduated with her AAS degree in 2004. 

Jamy has been a member of RID and certified since 1994. She has held board positions with 2 RID chapters. Jamy assisted with reestablishing the neRID chapter after it had been dissolved for some time. She also served on that board. Jamy was also a member of the ISRID board for 5 years where she served as president for four of those years. During that time, she represented the chapters at several RID regional and national conventions. 

As an active board member, she arranged workshops, taught at workshops, focused on making the chapter financially stable, as well as attracting and engaging all levels of Interpreter talent. 

Jamy enjoys volunteering for the Deaf community. And, in her free time, she enjoys dancing and travel.
